Timing your visit
The Museum is currently open 9.30am - 3.30pm daily. Class visits can be organised any weekday between 9.30am and 3pm.
Duration of visit
The duration of your visit will depend on the particular school visit program you choose. Otherwise we recommend allowing at least 1½ hours complete your program and view the galleries.
Group size
The recommended group size for led activities is 30 students. This ensures that the students enjoy the best possible learning experience. Two or more groups can run concurrently.

Lunch/morning or afternoon tea
School groups are welcome to bring lunch or morning or afternoon tea and eat outside under our shingle roof or shady trees. Or you may like to speak to our Education Officer about a School's Lunch Package.
Toilets
There are two sets of toilets available for visitors. One is located on the south side of Cobb's Coffee Shop and one just outside The Factory. It is recommended that students use the toilets adjacent to the Factory.
Disabled access
Ramp access is available for wheelchairs. Assistance is available on request for other special needs. More information for visitors with individual needs.

On the day of your visit
Make contact with one of the Visitor Services Officers at the front desk. They will check details of your student numbers and handle invoicing/payment details, if required.
Arrival
Conditions of Entry:
In accordance with the Restrictions on Businesses, Activities and Undertakings Direction (No.2) Queensland Museum is required to keep contact information about all visitors and staff for contact tracing purposes for a period of 56 days.
Schools and groups must supply an accurate record of the names of every person attending on the day. A contact form for all students/children will be sent to your booking contact prior to your visit. An updated hardcopy record of this must be brought with you on the day and put in the collection box on entry. All adults (parents, carers and teachers) entering the campus will be required to fill out the individual Contact form (49 KB)
, available to print and complete before the visit, or available on entry.
Schools and groups will enter the Museum from the front entry. We ask that you to arrive 15 min ahead of any pre-booked experiences.
A Visitor Services Officer (VSO) will meet you at the Museum's entrance and confirm the details of your visit, discuss your itinerary and confirm invoicing/payment details.
Supervision of students
You will be required to divide your students into small, supervised groups and explore our free exhibitions at your leisure.
Preferred supervision ratio of adults to students: Prep 1:3, Years 1-6 1:5, Years 7-10 1:10, Years 11-12 1:15.
Teachers and accompanying adults are responsible for the supervision of their group members while visiting and must remain with them at all times. Please move around the museum in smaller groups as instructed, to ensure social distancing from other visitors is observed.
Signage will indicate capacity limits for each exhibition or space inside the museum. Visitor Services Officers are available to assist visitor flow, however, it is the responsibility of group supervisors to ensure that their group itineraries and allocated time limits are observed.
The Museum Shop has a maximum capacity. Please allow only small, supervised groups into the shop.
Moving around the Museum
We ask that groups consider other Museum visitors. Please observe social distancing and keep noise levels down in public galleries.
