The elegant canoe-shaped design has glass panels in the front and easily converts to an open carriage. It has longitudinal elliptical springs, and large “C” springs in the rear which provides a very comfortable ride. The outside steps which fold down when the door is opened were an innovation.


Black body with dark blue undercarriage and wheels. A thick black line, edged both sides in white, features on the wheels. A royal crest adorns the door panel.


The private coach of German origin seats up to four inside, as well as the driver and footman on the box seat. These practical all-weather vehicles were a status symbol, as well as the most comfortable of carriages. This landau was used to carry Princess Alexandra who made official Royal visits to Queensland in 1959 and 1964. (Bolton Collection).
