Red Dirt and Grass Stains

The exciting new exhibition that celebrates inspirational sportspeople from the Darling Downs

Discover the stories of 'The Crimson Flash' Arthur Postle, the fastest man alive in the early 20th century, and 1920s Rugby League stars Duncan Thompson and Mick Madsen. See Will Power's IndyCar, Greg Ritchie's 'baggy green, Glynis Nunn-Cearns' Olympic gold medal, and so much more.

There are 18 sportspeople in total featured in Red Dirt and Grass Stains, people whose international careers developed right here in our own backyard. However, this exhibition is not just about the sportspeople with the most medals or the biggest name, but those that have inspired others through their achievements.

There are hundreds of local sportspeople to choose from, so we invited members of the community to nominate their most inspirational sportsperson for the exhibition. Do you agree with their selection? Who would you have chosen?

We will be choosing a 19th sportsperson to be in the exhibition based on feedback from visitors to the exhibition (write your nomination on a 'sock') and the general community. The identity of this sportsperson will be revealed in September.
