Feature Artisan

Introducing Joy Cook

Joy became interested in weaving after reading a novel abou t premier silk weaver set in 5th Century Rome. In 2001 she wove her first article and was immediately captivated by the fascinating craft.

Joy now owns three looms, two table looms, and a floor loom and she has warped them up more than 300 times.

She loves weaving with natural fibres like silk, bamboo, cotton, wool and alpaca, creating complex patterns through different dyeing and weaving techniques.

You can admire, purchase and order a variety of these exquisite pieces in the Museum Shop, or come in and meet Joy at one of her demonstration days.
