Artists in Residence Program

The Toowoomba Arts Footprint Artists in Residence program provides a very special and unique opportunity for three Queensland artists to take the Toowoomba community along on a  journey of creation, connection and discovery in 2021.

The program was developed by The Friends of Cobb+Co Museum, a group of key Toowoomba Community members who support the Museum, and has been fully funded by Arts Queensland, with support provided through South West Queensland Regional Arts.

Cobb+Co Museum is one of several local venues that will be hosting residencies, events, workshops and displays across the project duration,

Felicity Chapman

A proud Wiradjuri woman, Felicity's project Deadly Weavers aims to re-vitalise and preserve ancient cultural knowledge, shining light on the tradition of Aboriginal weaving.

The project was born from a devastating brain bleed she suffered in 2017. Felicity used her recovery time to research her indigenous heritage, having learned a few years prior that she was a child of the stolen generation.

She now travels across Queensland delivering visual storytelling and weaving workshops to schools and communities.

Residency: 2 May to 30 May

Toowoomba seamstress Lorraine creates beautifully tailored corsetry with an emphasis on quality of fabrics, cut and embellishments, paying homage to classic glamour.

Step inside the interactive open studio at the museum to experience the construction processes of garments representing each decade from the 1890s through to 2000.
