Get Hands On at Have A Go at Cobb and Co Museum

In February it’s all about what you can do at Cobb+Co Museum’s annual Have A Go Festival.

The festival, which is held every Sunday during February, features a whole range of free hands on activities for the family, as well as demonstrations of skills and crafts.  It provides a great opportunity for visitors to come and enjoy the satisfaction you get from making items yourself.

The Festival program includes a number of hands on activities for all ages including copperfoiling, leatherplaiting, pyrography, lacemaking, sandstone sculpture, wood turning and book making, all of which are free with admission.

Sunday 5 February
Come and try – pyrography (drawing on wood with a fire pen), copperfoiling and weaving
Come and see. - Wheelwrighting and millinery

Sunday 12 February
Come and try - Calligraphy, weaving and felting
Come and see - Silversmithing and hot glass bead art

Sunday 19 February
Come and try - Sandstone sculpture, leatherplaiting and candle wicking
Come and see - Saddlery and blacksmithing

Sunday 26 February
Come and try - Book making, leathercraft and woodturning
Come and see - Metal sculpting from cutlery

One of the highlights of the festival will be the Artisans’ Challenge exhibition which will be on display from 4 to 26 February.

This exhibition features exquisite items created by artisans using traditional skills and materials. Some of the items featured in the exhibition include a child’s clothing carved out of wood, a silver eagle created from knives and a metal exploding soccer ball.

Cobb+Co Museum is part of the Queensland Museum.  Located in Lindsay Street, Toowoomba it is open daily from 10am – 4pm, except Good Friday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day.  Thanks to Toowoomba Regional Council, entry is free to all council residents on presentation of proof of address.
